Pandemic Flu Preparedness: Web Conference June 28, 2006

According to the World Health Organization (www.who.int), the world may be on the brink of a new pandemic caused by the H5N1 influenza strain. This pandemic will affect all countries, causing widespread illness, large numbers of deaths, economic and social disruption, and a medical supply shortage.

How well prepared is your institution? What can you do to improve preparedness plans? Do you have business continuity plans in place? How will you communicate with families and other community members? Do you know the questions you should be asking?

This Web conference:

  • Gives you the facts on the H5N1 virus;
  • Provides you with the critical questions you must be asking on your campus;
  • Offers examples of how some institutions have started to plan strategically in order to prepare their campuses for the threat of a pandemic flu.
Featured Speakers:
  • John McLaughlin, Managing Director Higher Education Practice, Arthur J. Gallagher Risk Management Services, Inc.
  • Dr. Anita L. Barkin, Director, Carnegie Mellon University Student Health Service
